1. Windows 7 ISO image – the latest “Release Candidate” version available from microsoft website. You need either hotmail ID,live ID or MSN ID.
2. Pls get the latest version of Sun Virtualbox available from www.virtualbox.org

with that 2 ingredient, you should be able to proceed. I put up a series of photos i’ve taken during the installation process. most of the thing quite straight forward.

Just that after you finish install the windows, you need your OSX installation cd to install driver to your windows virtual machine. you need to browse the cd to bootcamp folder and click setup in order to start the driver installation…and wallah…so far the best thing for me is that i can use “Network Connect” in the win7 virtual machines.

My sharing this time is about how do i access internet using my nokia as a modem via bluetooth. I practically doing this every time I went back to my hometown. Oh, i know Sony Ericsson can do the tricks as well.

Let me do this in sequence and I’ll try to attach picture where possible for better understanding. Let’s start:

Part 1 (Pairing)

1. We need to pair the phone & the Mac first. Simply open “Bluetooth Preferences” from “System Preferences” and click the + button to add device (ur phone).
2. The “Bluetooth Setup Assistant” will come out and assist you. The instruction is darn simple and I believe you should be able to follow through. Key in the exact number in ur phone when asked to in order to successfully paired both devices. Oh..btw, pls ensure your phone bluetooth is on and searchable.
3. Once you go through that, the next window will show you what services available from your mobile phone. As you can see from picture below, “Access the internet with your phone’s data connection” is there, meaning you can get the internet data to your Mac.

1. In next windows, your brand of phone should be auto selected and the only think need to be filled-up the APN : celcom3g.

Part 2 (Connect it)

1. Once done that, go back to “Network Preferences” and Select “Bluetooth”. Put the Telephone no: *99# and click advance.
2. In the advance tap, most of the think already been filled-up for your. Just go to PPP tab, and choose one that most appropriate to you. Below is my setting.
3. Once you satisfied with your setting, just hit “Connect” button to connect to the internet.

[update] If let say after couple of month not using your phone as a modem, the next time you want to connect it again, it might not work. I don’t know exactly why but my workaround for this is that to remove your phone pairing from the Mac bluetooth and then re-pairing both devices again. It should work again.

This is a simple step on how to setup your Mac as a so call Wifi router/modem where it share the internet connection to other devices such as your iPod touch or iphone.

First, your Mac itself, need to get the internet connection directly either from your USB Modem, dial-up modem, LAN cable, Mobile phone via bluetooth etc. as long as your Mac didn’t get the internet from other wifi source (i.e wifi router, free wifi etc) since we need to use the Mac wifi(Airport) to share internet.

Go to System Preferences–>Sharing (under Internet & Network section). Follow the steps 1 to 5 below:

1. Choose the “Internet Sharing” first (Don’t tick it yet) and here you can see the setting available.

2. You need to choose “Share your connection from” suppose either ethernet or bluetooth(if using mobile phone as modem)

3. Select “To computer using:” Airport (to make it wifi-able)

4. You can set a password for your Wifi (by choosing “Airport Option”) in order to secure it from your neighbour.

5. And finally, after you’re satisfied with your setting, tick the “Internet Sharing” to start sharing your internet connection. Walla, your ipod/iphone should detect a wifi connection and your can start surfing..

p/s: this thing works out-of-the-box. no extra software required. i don’t think windows has similiar function :p at least not out-of-the-box

They have revealed that they are going to have a “new hosting plan” and you need to guess by answering 3 simple questions on the features of that new hosting plan:

1. The monthly transfer rate
2. The diskspace
3. The add-on domains

and finally give a slogan ”Why Do You Choose Exabytes” in less than 20 words.

In order to answer that in more objective way, let just list down the pros & cons of doing so.

Pros

1. Fully customize – you can customize you ipod with new theme or totally change the look of it
2. Launcher – an add-on to you springboard to make u easily launch your application. currently you have to search it manually your application swiping across
3. Background application – currently if you quit your IM apps, it will quit your connection, with jb’ed ipod, you could make it run in background
4. Cydia - similar concept of Apple Store but has lots of free software even now there are also paid apps.
5. Full Control – you can control you ipod much like real mini PC where you can install BSD unix subsystem

Cons

1. take some space of the ipod disk space?
2. Backgrounder really eat up your battery fast
3. Void your warranty – in case your ipod suddenly dead and you unable to restore it to original firmware

Nonetheless, the process is said risk free (not by me though). In case you want to claim warranty for let say faded screen..then u just need to restore it to original firmware and then bring it for warranty claim. No trace can be found. The only thing I could think of is that if your ipod dead. There must be a trace inside it (if Apple throughly inspect it I would say).

Despite all that, I myself jailbreak my ipod. LOL. I use untetherizer for mac. google it.

The new features…it TALK to You. Telling you what song it play and who performed it as well as the playlist dubbed as VoiceOver.

Available in two colors. One is more like silver and the other more like a black. Available only in 4GB capacity. Apple Malaysia Store put the price of RM309 while in US is USD79 which about RM292 after conversion.(different of RM17 which cheap).

They open it for booking now until 17 March 2009 with the official launching on 20-22th March 09 at KLCC. You need to select a plan which is call i-Value plan (i guess the “i” is for iphone LOL) ranging from 6 months contract upto 24 months contract. The cheapest is RM 0 for the iphone (8G) with RM 375 month commitment under 24 months contract. while the expensive one are rm2540 (8G) and rm 2960 (16G) with the 6 months contract.

Most people are suggesting that it still quite expensive even if compare with the underwater market. check this spreadsheet here

It seems that Apple Store Malaysia is down now(20:50hrs – 15/3) for updating process. My guess?..they are updating the iphone3g section. hehe Its now back online(21:03hrs) which actually to update the new ipod shuffle (3rd generation). lol.my bad

Nevertheless, I will stick with my current configuration ipod touch 2g + 3g phone.

Just go to System Preference->Time Machine->Option. You can see something like this

and then just click the plus symbol to add the “excluded” folder from being backup by time machine. Pls be warn, if you exlclude certain critical folder such as System folder etc..you might not be able to restore your machine current state. just check it out the website i link above for more info.
